Tuition Program

2025-2026 Tuition Program

Sunnyside Mennonite Montessori School offers a sliding scale tuition plan, based on each family’s annual gross household income. This plan is designed to keep tuition affordable for parents of all income levels.

As a program of Portland Mennonite Church (PMC), this program is consistent with the church’s commitment to “seek the peace of the city where I have placed you.” PMC also supports SMMS by providing the space free of charge for rent, utilities and insurance costs.

Our goal with this program is to balance:
  • The cost of providing an outstanding Montessori preschool experience
  • Affordability for families of varying financial resources
  • Equitable pay for our teachers

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of operating the school. Fundraising helps meet the gap and each family is expected to fully participate in each fundraiser. Proceeds from fundraising go toward classroom equipment purchases and providing funds for tuition assistance.

Tuition Assistance

SMMS sets aside funds for tuition assistance if that is needed in order for your child to attend the school. This allows families the opportunity to pay reduced rate tuition, based on the family’s needs and availability of funds.

Tuition assistance requests are submitted to the Treasurer and are reviewed by the Board Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. It is a confidential process facilitated by the Treasurer, where only the Treasurer is aware of the identity of the requesting family. Should you desire consideration for tuition assistance, indicate the need for a request form on the Tuition Agreement portion of the Registration Form.
