Sunnyside Mennonite Montessori School follows the “Health and Safety Guidelines for Childcare and Early Education Operating During COVID-19” by the Oregon Department of Education, Early Learning Division. We have taken great care to ensure the safety of our families and to also nurture the physical, social and emotional well-being of our students.
Our Health and Safety Protocols:
All adults working in the classroom are fully vaccinated and wear masks.
Parents or caregivers wear masks and maintain physical distancing during both drop-off and pick-up.
All families are required to fill out a Health Check online before 8:30 am.
All children are asked to wear masks. (If your child is not accustomed to wearing a mask, this would be a good time to start practicing. Our lead teacher, Denee, is also very skilled at helping children learn the value of mask-wearing and creating a classroom culture that makes it feel normal.)
There is lots of hand washing and plenty of hand sanitizer available.
Two powerful air purifiers are running at school: one in the main classroom space and one in the bathroom space.
Lunches are eaten outside where unmasking is safer.
Children take turns eating their snacks in the hallway near the air purifier and distant from the other children.
The teachers have a consistent routine of sanitizing classroom materials. Bathrooms are sanitized regularly.
Sunnyside Mennonite Montessori School provides high-quality, affordable Montessori education to children ages 3-6, informed by spiritual principles of peace, respect and grace.
